STARBASE 5th Grade Program Instructor

Demetria Smith has been a STARBASE Robins 5th Grade Program Instructor since October 2013 and she truly loves what she does! Demetria attended Savannah State University from 1990-1994, but ended up obtaining a Bachelor of Science Degree in Zoology from Fort Valley State University. After graduating from college she eventually went on to work in the telecommunications industry as well as trying her hand at being a claim service adjuster for a major insurance company. These different careers ultimately led her to a very rewarding teaching career in a local private school. Through circumstances, life, lots of prayer and consideration, she decided to further her education full-time and completed a Master of Arts in Teaching Biology Degree in May 2014 from Fort Valley State University.

Demetria was born and raised right here in Warner Robins, Georgia; and she is the youngest of six children. She recently married LaMarcus Smith and has truly been enjoying being a newlywed! She has two children, one son (Jamal, age 22) and one daughter (Mozzie, age 16), as well as one stepson (LaMarcus, age 15) and one stepdaughter (Amya, age 13) whom she loves dearly. Demetria is heavily involved in church ministries like liturgical dancing and softball. She has attended the same church for the entire 35 years that it has existed. Demetria is very adventurous and has recently checked two major things off of her bucket list…SKYDIVING and FLYING a helicopter (courtesy of her wonderful husband)! She also immensely enjoys spending time with family and friends.
